Until recently a coast redwood at Montgomery State Reserve, California at 112.01 m, was considered the record holder, but it has been overtaken by a recent discovery, the so-called "stratoshere giant" redwood of 117.8 m in the Rockefeller Forest, Humboldt Redwood State Park, California.
Do you know that the location of the tree is kept secret to protect it from illegal activity and tourist. Are we that bad..? i hope not..!
Anyway, Australia once claimed a 150 m eucalyptus tree at Watts River, Victoria, but the tallest surviving example, is in the Styx Forest, Tasmania, just about 91.6 m tall.
